Philippines: WHO donates COVID-19 data processing and encoding equipment

20 October 2020

WHO has recently taken renewed action to support the Philippine government’s COVID-19 response by strengthening the Department of Health’s (DoH) surveillance systems. Surveillance is a critical component and is used to detect cases of COVID-19, understand trends and identify hotspots of transmission.

The DoH Epidemiology Bureau will use the equipment, amounting to an estimated US$ 22 478, to help reduce data processing time and encoding to make the surveillance process to detect COVID-19 faster and more efficient.

WHO thanks all donors and partners who have contributed to fund the Strategic Preparedness and Response Plan to combat COVID-19. A special appreciation goes to Member States and other contributors who provided flexible funds, making it possible for WHO to deliver a coherent, strategic and broad response.
